ON THE FIRST DAY

The first day officially started with  the presentation of Portugal, as well as the city – Barreiro. We heard some beautiful traditional Portuguese songs and watched traditional dances. Then we walked to the beach, where we admired the views, including the mill right by the water.

ON THE SECOND DAY

Tuesday was a day of integration at the local school - divided into three mixed groups, we wrote articles about the previous day and made our own wallets from drink cartons. We also had a chance to learn something new about other countries while giving presentations about our countries and cities.

ON THE THIRD DAY

Tuesday was a day of integration at the local school - divided into three mixed groups, we wrote articles about the previous day and made our own wallets from drink cartons. We also had a chance to learn something new about other countries while giving presentations about our countries and cities.

ON THE FORTH DAY

We spent Wednesday on a sightseeing trip. The first point of the trip was a visit to the glass museum in Marinha Grande, where we  could admire beautiful bowls, bottles, glasses and glass figures and we could learn about the very process of making them. Next to the museum was a workshop where we saw first hand how engravings on glasses and other products are made. The second point of our trip was to see the town of Óbidos, where we could enjoy the ancient architecture of Portugal and had lunch. The last point of our visit was the castle, garden and palace in Sintra. The beautiful, picturesque landscapes gave the atmosphere of the Borneo rainforest and the old buildings made you feel like Indiana Jones.

ON THE FIFTH DAY

On Thursday morning we visited the capital city of Portugal Lisbon. We saw many sights -the Plaza de Commerce,  a beautiful monastery founded in honour of the Portuguese colonisation (Mosteiro dos Jeronimos), the over 50 metre high monument dedicated to sea explorers, beautiful Belem boulevar,  marinas and a lighthouse and the "Torre de Belem" - medieval fortifications,  a picturesque street lined with the traditional yellow Lisbon trams, the beautiful 12th century cathedral (Se da Lisboa),  Castelo di S. Jorge (the complex, consisting of a Moorish castle and the ruins of a palace).

LAST DAY

We spent the  last day  at a local school - making photo albums of cork material, receiving certificates for participating in the Erasmus + project and watching presentations prepared by students from Portugal about their country, city and the history of the three queens.

In the evening groups from different countries started making traditional dishes. On Polish table you could find cheese called oscypek, sausage and other delicacies, as well as the vegetable salad. There was also traditional salad from Turkey, as well as Romanian pancakes. And a lot of traditional Portuguese dishes as well as a great variety of Portuguese desserts, prepared by local students and their parents. To complete our work, all students of Polish school dressed up in traditional Slavic costumes, and as other participants of the project stated, they made quite an impression. In the evening, while tasting the prepared food, they wanted to show their family roots and started a Polish banquet we reffer to as Biesiada, as a result the supper warmed up. After the sampling, we could join in singing karaoke and dancing.

The participation in the actrivity was beneficial for all participants, guests and local ones. As for the host students and their families, they performed a role of ambassadors of their culture and traditions, thus having the opportunity to develop deeper feelings towards their own identity. As for the guests, they benefitted  from the heartly atmosphere, making friends and developing close bonds with students from different cultures, they learnt a lot about Portuguese cuklture taking part in numerous workshops, educational and sightseeing trips. What is more, it was the time when COVID restrictions became less rigorous, so students had a possibility to have a supper where they cooked together and spent time dancing and singing, which was very important for their good emotional being after the long time of lockdown.
